Juvederm Treatment

Juvederm® is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that fills in and supports facial skin and tissues that have lost their support as result of the normal aging process.

Aging process naturally causes facial structures to lose volume and decrease their elasticity. Juvederm is an effective way to fill in these volume losses. Juvederm also contributes to more youthful looking skin by bringing water to the surface.

Juvederm FAQs

What is Juvederm?

The Juvederm injection is a liquid gel that may be administered with or without lidocaine. This helps eliminate the need for a general or local anesthetic making the Juvederm procedure more convenient, quick and straightforward. Juvederm treatments also require little or no downtime for recovery.
Juvederm Voluma XC injectable gel is the first and only filler FDA-approved to instantly add volume to the cheek area. It gives you a subtle lift helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile for up to two years for patients over the age of 21. It's different than Juvederm XC and works on a different area of the face. Juvederm smoothes out moderate to severe wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth. Juvederm Voluma XC adds volume to the cheek area.

What are the steps of the Juvederm procedure?

Local or topical anesthetic may be administered prior to the Juvederm injection. This is not often necessary since Juvederm comes formulated with or without lidocaine. Juvederm is gently introduced under the skin with a needle and massaged throughout the area of treatment.

Who is an ideal candidate for Juvederm?

Due to its minimally-invasive nature and extremely low rate of side effects, patients of all ages and skin types are excellent candidates for Juvederm. Candidates who are allergic to bovine collagen often use Juvederm as an alternative. Those with allergies to Juvederm's ingredients should not use it.

What happens after the procedure?

Immediately after the procedure, the skin may be bruised, red and swollen. These effects will lessen and disappear in a few days. The results should occur nearly immediately and last for between three and five months.

Are there any side effects?

Juvederm is minimally invasive so the side effects are rare and relatively minor. These include possible allergic skin reactions and red nodules around the injection sites. These nodules may last from weeks to months.
