    Thread Lift
    in Washington, DC

    About the Thread Lift Procedure

The two proteins responsible for keeping the skin firm and looking youthful are elastin and collagen. As aging occurs, the production of these two vital proteins slows. This process causes laxity of the skin and facial retaining ligaments that hold the fat compartments in place and is what contributes to an older looking face. Those who are already showing the signs of aging will need to join the facial refreshment and rejuvenation battle. One procedure that is helping people in the Washington, DC area address this is a minimally invasive, non-surgical thread lift (aka a non-surgical facelift) with MINT™ PDO sutures.

Facial Rejuvenation Close to Washington, DC Using a MINT™ PDO Thread Lift

Dr. Maiorino performs thread lifts using MINT™ PDO dissolvable sutures at his office close to Washington, DC to refresh and rejuvenate a patient’s face and neck.

Some Signs of Aging Dr. Maiorino Addresses During a Thread Lift with MINT™ PDO Sutures

The signs of aging that Dr. Eric Maiorino addresses with a non-surgical facelift using the revolutionary MINT™ PDO sutures include deep smile lines, heavy nasolabial folds and jowling. These facial characteristics can make an individual appear worn out and add years to his or her face.

What is a Washington, DC Thread Lift?

A Washington, DC non-surgical facelift is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the strategic placement of dissolvable sutures beneath the skin to provide the patient with a subtle, but visible, lift. During a non-surgical facelift with MINT™ PDO sutures, Dr. Maiorino gently pulls back a patient’s deeper tissue in the face and facial skin to provide him or her with a more refreshed appearance.

Will Dr. Maiorino Remove Any Skin During a Non-surgical Facelift Using MINT™ PDO Sutures?

No, during a non-surgical facelift by Washington, DC, no skin is removed and patients with significant excess skin are not good candidates for this procedure.

A Non-Surgical Facelift with PDO Sutures is a Good Alternative to Surgery

PDO sutures are becoming a popular alternative to surgical facelifts. In addition, the revolutionary MINT™ PDO suture thread-lift procedure has contributed to some facial enhancement trends (e.g., V-line, emerging cat eye and snatched jawline).

    Are MINT™ PDO Sutures Safe?

Yes, MINT™ sutures consist of complex sugar polydioxanone (PDO). Orthopedic surgeons and cardiologists have been using an FDA-cleared PDO thread as an internal suture for more than 30 years. In addition, there are multiple studies available detailing the safety of MINT™ PDO threads.

MINT™ is the First PDO Suture with Dual FDA Clearance

MINT™ is the first (and only) PDO suture with dual FDA clearance in the U.S. market. MINT’s most recent FDA clearance involves reducing the depth of nasolabial folds by lifting the area with MINT’s PDO suture.

MINT™ PDO Offers a Unique Suture Design

The MINT™ PDO suture is the most robust on the market. It is their patented design that makes these sutures unique. Press-molded barbs that are configured in a 360-degree helical pattern allows patients to enjoy instant results.

These results are profound with the patient experiencing minimal pain and trauma thus, providing the patient with a short recovery time. Furthermore, a thread lift with the MINT™ PDO suture is a good alternative for patients who would like to look more youthful, but are not ready to have a surgical procedure.

    How Do PDO Sutures Work?

The PDO sutures Dr. Maiorino uses are biocompatible, which means they do not harm living tissue. Since PDO sutures are dissolvable, after some time, the body breaks them down and absorbs them.

How Long After Placement Do the MINT™ PDO Sutures Begin to Dissolve?

MINT™ PDO threads stay in place for approximately six months, and then they begin to dissolve slowly. Even after these threads dissolve completely, patients continue to enjoy the facial rejuvenation results from their Washington, DC MINT™ PDO thread lift for up to a year.

How Can the Results Remain Even After the PDO Threads Dissolve?

After Dr. Maiorino places the PDO threads during the patient’s thread lift, the body sends extra surges of collagen to these areas and encourages neovascularization, which is the natural formation of new blood vessels.

The improvements resulting from this additional collagen and new blood vessel formation allow MINT™ PDO thread-lift patients in Washington, DC to continue enjoying their youthful-looking results despite the absence of the PDO threads. Sequential threading over time can even enhance the results and make them last even longer!

A Thread Lift with MINT™ PDO Sutures: The Procedure

A thread lift using MINT™ PDO sutures takes from 45 to 90 minutes, with most procedures lasting about an hour. The results are visible directly following treatment and can last up to a year.

    1. Dr. Maiorino uses local anesthesia to numb the areas where he will perform the patient’s thread lifting (e.g., the jowl, neck or midface).
    2. He strategically inserts the pre-threaded needle into the area just beneath the visible layer of skin.
    3. He inserts the second needle about 1.5 cm above the first needle.
    4. Each needle Dr. Eric Maiorino places inserts bi-directional threads into the target areas.
    5. The barbs along the surface of MINT™ PDO thread acts like small gears, grasping, lifting and suspending the area of the face receiving treatment. As Dr. Maiorino slowly withdraws the needle, the tissue gathers over the thread. Once Dr. Maiorino is happy with the amount of gathering, he cuts off the long ends of the thread, leaving the area lifted.

How Much Downtime is There After a Thread Lift with MINT™?

A MINT™ PDO thread lift has minimal downtime as there are no large skin flaps or incisions to heal so patients get to see their results directly following treatment thus, making this a quick and easy way for Dr. Maiorino’s patients to look younger and more refreshed quickly.

What to Expect After a Thread Lift Near Washington, DC

After a non-surgical facelift, some patients experience nausea. Until the nausea subsides, sipping small amounts of clear liquids can help.

Some bruising and swelling is expected so patients may use cryotherapy to reduce inflammation and bruising. A cryotherapy treatment involves holding an ice packet that is wrapped in a cloth up to the treatment area for approximately 30 minutes. Patients can continue with cryotherapy treatments up to five times a day for the first five days following their thread lift with MINT™ PDO sutures.

    Patients:

    • Need to limit their facial motions for 24 hours.
    • Should not apply any facial creams, moisturizers or makeup for at least 48 hours after their non-surgical facelift.
    • Must avoid drinking from a straw for about a week.
    • For about seven days, even while sleeping, patients need to keep their heads elevated at a 45-degree angle.
    • Patients need to avoid bending over for about a week as well.
    • Must not chew gum for two weeks.
    • Need to eat soft foods or follow a liquid diet for a week to 10 days. Patients interested in following a liquid diet need to speak with their treating physician beforehand to ensure this is a safe option for them.
    • Must avoid pulling down on their face or massaging it for at least three weeks.
    • Heavy exertion must be avoided for two to three weeks.

Who is a Good Candidate for a MINT™ PDO Thread Lift Near Washington, DC?

The ideal candidate for this procedure is someone whose age ranges between late 30s to early 50s. In addition, for a patient to benefit the most from this procedure, his or her skin must have a layer that is not too thick or too thin. Furthermore, the patient’s skin should be relatively even and without significant excess.

Individuals who are in their later 50’s and up may still be candidates for a non-surgical thread lift and should be evaluated in-person to see if you’re a good candidate.

Skin Characteristics and the MINT™ PDO Thread Lift

The patient’s skin needs to be thin enough to allow the results to be visible, yet thick enough to ensure that the MINT™ PDO threads beneath the skin remain well hidden.
